Museum Passes
The Museum Pass Program offers free or discounted admission to 20 premiere educational and cultural institutions in Connecticut and New York. Get details here or ask in Children’s Services. Thanks to the Friends of the Ridgefield Library for their support of the Museum Pass Program.
Braille Book Boxes
Kits containing Braille editions of favorite children’s books, along with textured props to engage all the senses in the reading experience. Created and donated by Sarah Perlman, in conjunction with the Connecticut Children’s Museum’s TEXTured Literacy Project, in fulfillment of a Girl Scout Gold Award. Ask in Children’s Services.
Kill A Watt Devices
Thanks to the Ridgefield Action Committee for the Environment (RACE), a number of Kill A Watt electricity usage monitoring devices are available for loan. Borrow one today and discover the costs - to your pocketbook and to the planet - of keeping that rarely used old freezer running or leaving electronic gear on 24/7. Kill A Watt devices may be borrowed for two weeks, with one renewal. Fines are 10¢ per day. Look for Kill A Watt devices at the Reference Desk.
Now Available! E-Book Readers
Thinking of getting a Kindle, Nook or Sony Reader? Try before you buy! Thanks to the Friends of the Library, we now have one of each of these new personal reading devices available for you to sample. Pre-loaded with a selection of popular adult fiction and non-fiction titles, readers may be borrowed for 7 days (sorry, no renewals). Contact Dorothy Pawlowski at the Fiction Desk at 203-438-2282 x1003 or dlpawl@ridgefieldlibrary.org to borrow or reserve one today.
Please Note: At this time, we are not able to offer content for you to download to your own e-reader. We are hopeful that rights and compatibility issues will be resolved in future, but the current business model for e-book companies is geared towards the individual consumer, not towards resource sharing through libraries.
