Lynda is an online video learning resource offering more than 3,400 video courses covering a wide range of commercial software, business skills, computer programming and web development, creative and technical skills. Lynda for Libraries allows you to watch videos in small, easy-to-manage chunks, and to return to the lessons at your convenience. It is now available to all Ridgefield Library cardholders and can be accessed online – from home or at the Library (accessible from both computers and mobile devices).
Course offerings include:
- Help with computer programs and software, Microsoft Office, Apple software, and more
- Social media and publishing tools
- Art, graphic and web design: everything from 3D animation to app development tools
- Computer Programming and IT management (Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X)
- Business and career skills: public speaking, marketing, workplace issues and more
- Photography, video and music editing
Log onto Lynda using your library barcode and the password used to log into your Ridgefield Library catalog account (usually the last four digits of your phone number, unless you have changed it). You will be asked to create a Lynda Library account which will allow you to track your progress through your tutorials.
Small Business Reference Center (EBSCO)
Business and entrepreneurial subjects from starting a company, management, sales, and marketing, to growing or rescuing a business. Legal information from Nolo legal reference books, industry information, business videos, and much more.
Morningstar Investment Research Center - Investment research for stocks, bonds, mutual funds and more.
Value Line Investment Survey - Aso available in paper format. Investment research information and market trends. Current and historical data, and expert forecasts. Check stocks, mutual funds and other securities.
Investor's Business Daily - Available online on library computers or in paper format. Investment news, editorials, free online courses, and video. Learn the Can Slim investment strategy.
Reference USA Custom search 24 million U.S. businesses. Search for companies by city, state, or county. Perfect for market research and job seekers. Explore jobs, internships and get job help in the U.S. Jobs/Internships database. Search directory listings for 89 million residents in U.S. Standard White Pages. The U.S. Consumers/Lifestyles database offers market research information on 262 million consumers.
