Sincere thanks to the Ridgefield community for helping to make each step in the Library’s reopening a success. The health and safety of our community and staff remains our primary concern and our most important service priority.
We are pleased to announce that we will be adding additional open Express Service Browsing hours beginning on Monday November 16th. New Express Service Browsing hours will be:
- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 10am-1pm; 2pm-5pm (closed 1pm-2pm for enhanced
- Wednesday from 4pm-7pm
- Saturday from 10am-1pm
We feel confident that we can safely add the additional Express Service Browsing hours because of the cooperation and understanding of Library visitors. Thank you! Please continue to wear your masks, use hand sanitizer and maintain proper social distancing while visiting the Library.
Contactless Lobby Pickup remains a popular choice for many of our patrons and will be available during Express Browsing Hours. Appointments for Lobby Pickup can be made for Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and now, also on Saturday. To schedule Lobby Pickup appointments, follow the link in the “Hold Ready” email you receive when your materials are ready for pickup or let our Circulation team know if you need assistance. You can call us Monday-Friday 10am-5pm or Saturday 10am-1pm at 203-438-2282.
With the current state of the pandemic in our area, the Library will hold off on adding any seating at this time. We hope that conditions will improve and that we will be able to add in this service.

Our outdoor book drop is open seven days per week for return of Library materials. Our indoor book drop is also open and available during open Express Browsing Hours. The Library continues to quarantine returned materials per recommended guidelines for your safety and we will not charge overdue fines at this challenging time. Please return materials on time so that they are available for others to enjoy. Please also note that due to this quarantine requirements it may take up to 6 days for certain items to be “checked in” and no longer appear on your library account.
The Library will maintain all of our popular Virtual Library services, including online programming for all ages, online individual research and technology support, access to our digital collection, and remote access to our catalog and Library card account services. The Ridgefield Library will continue to follow local, state and federal guidelines to ensure patron and staff safety. We are grateful to the Friends of the Ridgefield Library for providing generous support for the necessary modifications to the Library building and equipment.
