Library Board of Directors
The Ridgefield Library is operated by the Ridgefield Library Association, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization governed by a Board of Directors dedicated to ensuring excellent library service to the community. The Board’s major responsibilities are to set policies and directions for the Library; manage its financial and intellectual health; and provide oversight to the administration of the Library.
From the Board Chair
On behalf of the Board of Directors, I’d like to thank you all for your support and flexibility as our Library responds to the realities of the novel coronavirus. As the pandemic developed this spring, you met us online, adopted new technologies, and even cared for our books until we could safely manage the return process. We are grateful for your willing attitude and good cheer as our librarians found new ways to serve you.
I’m very pleased to share that we remain well positioned to deliver library services to our community, despite the unknown operational and financial impacts of COVID-19.
Operationally, we are fortunate to have Executive Director Brenda McKinley leading our wonderful staff. It has been heartening to observe our librarians meet the challenges of this developing health and financial crisis with the utmost professionalism and care. Without safe access to our library or its physical resources, they took the library online and quickly began hosting programs and services to support, educate, and entertain our patrons at home, providing a vital connection despite physical distance.
Financially, we are in a stable and sustainable position. A few financially prudent decisions early in the year, coupled with tight budget management and your individual donations, allowed us to close our funding gap despite the cancellation of our annual gala. We thank you for your continued generosity.
As we take safe steps forward, opening our building to patrons and developing protocols to deliver in-person services, we are faced with many unknowns. But some things remain certain: your Library will continue its work of enriching minds and enhancing community, and it will need your help to do so. If you value having a trusted, reliable, and accessible source of information to assist, educate, and inspire our community, please show your support by making a donation to our annual appeal.

The Library Board meets on the 4th Monday of most months at 7:30 p.m. in the Library’s Dayton Program Room. During the COVID-19 pandemic, meetings are held via Zoom. Click here for FY 2021-2022 Meeting Schedule.
