Special Collections
Large Print Materials, E-books & Audiobooks
Our large print collection includes new titles from bestselling authors, as well as classics, nonfiction, and biography. Large print titles are located in the Bossidy Commons on the Main Level for your convenience.
A large selection of e-books is available through the OverDrive and Hoopla to download to your personal device. And the Library has audiobooks on CD and easy-to-use Playaway formats, located on the Upper Level. Assistive Technologies
Assistive Listening System
Program rooms on the Lower Level are equipped with an induction loop assistive listening system. Contact the Adult Programs staff if you wish to take advantage of this technology when attending Library programs.

Connecticut Talking Books & CT LAB
The Talking Books Recording Studio, located in the Ridgefield Library, is a corps of local volunteer readers, monitors and sound editors whose recordings end up as Digital Talking Books that are loaned to blind and physically handicapped patrons by the Connecticut State Library at no charge.
Connecticut Talking Books (CVSBH, Inc.) is an all-volunteer, 501c3 nonprofit organization that produces Digital Talking Books for the Connecticut Library for Accessible Books (CT LAB). The Connecticut Library for Accessible Books, formerly the Connecticut State Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (LBPH), is a network library of the Library of Congress’ National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled (NLS). CT LAB lends books and magazines in audio and braille formats, for free, to any Connecticut resident who is unable to read regular print due to a visual, reading, or physical disability.
Readers register with CT LAB and materials are delivered to individuals via U.S. mail or are downloaded by patrons to their personal computers and mobile devices. The NLS collection includes nonfiction, fiction, bestsellers, magazines and the NLS music section. Titles are available in a variety of world languages. The collection is intended to appeal to patrons of all ages. Talking Books and companion digital players are loaned to eligible patrons for free.
