Library Board of Directors

The Ridgefield Library is operated by the Ridgefield Library Association, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization governed by a Board of Directors dedicated to ensuring excellent library service to the community. The Board’s major responsibilities are to set policies and directions for the Library; manage its financial and intellectual health; and provide oversight to the administration of the Library.

From the Board Chair

As I reflect on this year, I am filled with gratitude for the energy and
enthusiasm our staff, board, and community bring to our Library every
day. On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to extend my thanks to
our community. Whether you Zoomed for the first time, sent a thank you note
to our staff, volunteered your time, or made a donation, your support helped us
through this trying time. Thank you.

It is my honor to report to you that our Library remains a healthy, impactful
organization.

Operationally, our staff, led by Library Director Brenda McKinley, has expertly
managed to meet our patrons needs in a safe, accessible manner. Their work
has never been more vital, or challenging. I am proud of their ability to deliver
access to information, resources, and connections during this time of uncertainty
and need.

Financially, we remain in a stable, strong position. Sensible budget management
and strategic decisions helped ensure we met our obligations despite some
revenue loss. We thank our partners for their continued support: the Town for
providing significant operational funding, The Friends of the Ridgefield Library
for helping to fund COVID -19 related safety measures, and you, our donors and
sponsors. Your donations ensure we can continue to provide many vital services,
resources, and programs to Ridgefield’s citizens.

The COVID -19 pandemic revealed the true character and capabilities of our
organization. Our Library is directed and supported by a collective of resilient,
dedicated, imaginative, and thoughtful people committed to the important
role we play in our community. The challenges of the last eighteen months
have only strengthened our ability to anticipate and respond to future trials.
Whatever our futures hold, I am confident that the Ridgefield Library will
continue to serve as a trusted community resource, and I know that it will
require your support to do so. Please consider donating to our Annual Appeal.

With gratitude,
Alison M. Greeley
