Library Board of Directors

The Ridgefield Library is operated by the Ridgefield Library Association, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization governed by a Board of Directors dedicated to ensuring excellent library service to the community. The Board’s major responsibilities are to set policies and directions for the Library; manage its financial and operational health; and provide oversight to the administration of the Library.

From the Board Chair

At the Ridgefield Library, our values guide our service: to be a trusted community leader and partner, to be an accessible and inclusive resource for all and to respect and value one another in a safe and welcoming environment.

We bring babies and their grown-ups together for socialization and stories, planting the seeds of early literacy. We celebrate the emerging reader who has read “1,000 Books Before Kindergarten.” We encourage remote learners by proctoring exams and providing study spaces. We gather teens for STEAM activities, hang outs, tech sessions and volunteer opportunities, providing learning and growth along the way. We are a safe space for parents to gain a deeper understanding of their child’s development.

We enlighten curious lifelong learners with lectures, classes and great discussions. We reach out to all with tailored programs such as our Next Chapter Book Club for older adolescents and adults with developmental challenges.  We support those experiencing cognitive change and their caregivers with resources and gatherings. We focus on the whole person with health & wellness programs. We welcome seniors for conversation and learning, combating social isolation and bridging the digital divide. We take the Library out to those who can’t get to us with our Homebound Delivery Service. The Library is here for the people of Ridgefield, the town that we love, in all ways, for laughter, for learning and for support, in good times and especially in hard times.

We are grateful to the Town of Ridgefield for supporting our vital mission with an annual grant that funds 71% of our operating expenses. As a 501(c)3 non-profit association library, we rely on our many donors — you, your neighbors and friends, as well as the many businesses large and small — that make a difference by supporting our programs and initiatives. It is because of your engagement and generosity that the Ridgefield Library has a long history, a vibrant present and a bright future serving our community. Thank you for your support!
