Library Board of Directors
The Ridgefield Library is operated by the Ridgefield Library Association, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization governed by a Board of Directors dedicated to ensuring excellent library service to the community. The Board’s major responsibilities are to set policies and directions for the Library; manage its financial and intellectual health; and provide oversight to the administration of the Library.
From the Board Chair
Ridgefield is a special place, a community that values lifelong learning and connections to family and friends. The Ridgefield Library has a place at the heart of our community.
Our staff love to serve each person who comes through our doors and our community loves attending Library programs, diving into our collections, learning with our classes and taking advantage of our many services such as passports, museum passes, notary and proctoring. Highlights from this past year include the scholarly series AI: Ready or Not with world-renowned experts; writing programs; book discussions; technology and STEAM workshops; RidgeCon – all age fandom fun; Summer Reading; 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten; early literacy and civic engagement programs. We are the place whose role it is to support each citizen, our town, our schools, our nonprofits and our businesses. The Library does this through engaging, enriching and educational programs; strong collections and information access; expert service and a comfortable, welcoming space.
In 2024 we celebrate the tenth anniversary of the opening of the New Ridgefield Library. The expansion of our building honored our historic past while creating a modern, light-filled space that has welcomed over 2 million visitors since its dedication. Thousands of donors helped fund the call to “do it once, do it right, do it now!” This building and all that happens in it is a testament to every Ridgefielder who believes in the importance of a strong community Library.
We are grateful that the Town of Ridgefield supports our vital mission through a grant that funds approximately 70% of our operating expenses. As a 501(c)3 non-profit association library, we rely on the continued support of our many donors – you, your neighbors and friends, as well as the many businesses large and small that make a difference by supporting our programs and initiatives. It is because of your engagement and generosity that the Ridgefield Library has a long history, a vibrant present and a bright future welcoming our community.
